Cake Cutting Spotlight •
Did you know that it was the job of the bride alone in Victorian times to first cut the cake and hand out to the guests as a sign of fertility.
As guest numbers grew, the groom stepped in to help his bride and now one partner places their hand over the other to cut the first slice of cake.
A symbol of their promise to support each other and to reflect the first responsibility they complete as husband and wife.
